Khoey Ho Tum Kahan : Story

Though it started a little late (and a little means one and a half hours), the recently held launch of 'Khoaey ho tum kahan' was a unique experience. After an apology for the delay offered by Moin Akhtar, the compere of the show, instead of all the film actors showering praises on the film and elucidating why should one see the movie, the industry's gliterati and celebrities showed up by the dozens, which was an honour graced to the occasion. So much so that the main cast Meera and Babar Ali were not even present at the launch! The chosen few who spoke included veteran actors Nadeem, Shakeel, Kamal and Talat Hussain, and writer Haseena Moin.

Written, directed and acted by Ajab Gul, the film, scheduled to be premiered on April 27, seems to have broken new ground. Although a first time for him in directing and writing, the clippings of the movie, shown intermittently, flashed some surprisingly slick frames and a mature handling of shots. One was told that it is a suspense thriller with a tilt on women\'s issues. The music composed, written and sung by a new find, Zain, and Asma, accompanying him, "is remarkable" as put by Nadeem.

Gul was particularly happy about the suspense played up in the film. So much so that he has challenged viewers of the matinee show to predict the end of the movie by the interval! A card has been specially designed for the first showing which will be issued with every ticket purchased. The card is expected to be filled and submitted during the interval. The correct answer in the case of more than one, there will be a ballot will be awarded rupees one lakh!

It was heartening to know that new people have been given an opportunity to prove their mettle something that one misses amongst the same old faces. One nuisance to the programme was the ringing of mobile telephones, that rang incessantly despite the audience being told to switch off because of being recorded by PTV. Far from being apologetic, a person was so logger-headed that when told to mute the gadget, snapped "Don't show attitude!" Talk about pseudo educated people!

One wonders when our pseudo educated people will ever learn to behave decently.
