Auberge espagnole, L' : Movie Review

L'Auberge espagnole
Directed by Cédric Klapish
Starring : Romain Duris, Judith Godrèche, Audrey Tautou, Cécile de France, Kelly Reilly, . ..

Xavier, 25, is undecided about his future. .. He could get a little quiet job which needs a perfect knowledge of Spanish but it isn't what he really desires. Nevertheless, he goes to Spain for a year. Over there, he meets all kind of people who will change his life. ..

L'auberge espagnole is directed by Cédric Klapish, the man who did Peut-être and Chacun cherche son chat for example. And like in every Klapish's film, there is a feeling of freedom who escapes, something which leads the main character to what he really wants. In his brand new movie, he shows us a Spanish flat, taken by some european young people. This flat may be seen as a metaphore of European Union, everything is different, but everybody have to live together and it works ! but it's not the goal of the movie. .. Klapish prefers to show how important it is to meet people, to be hopeful, optimistic. ..
Klapish has shot his movie with a DV cam, the movie is close to a holyday movie, which could have been made by the main character himself ! And the director has also managed to choose very good actors ! except Romain Duris, who is used to Klapish's movies, Cécile de France and Audrey Tautou are wonderful. .. like all the unknown european actors.
So, L'auberge espagnole is a nice movie, very optimistic and very realistic, that's make it optimistic !
