Butterfly Man : Introduction

Kaprice Kea's vibrant film is the adventure of a British backpacker out-of-sorts with his own culture, who finds a deeper sense of purpose from a colourful, crazy and benign new reality he experiences as Thailand.

"Butterfly Man" is an endearing island term for someone who "goes from lady to lady to lady". So when Adam meets and falls in love with Em, "the girl of his dreams" and then screws up, he has to confront who he is and what he really wants from her.

Featuring a young international cast that includes Stuart Laing (Lawless Heart), Napakpapha "Mamee" Nakprasitte (Mae Bia), Abigail Good (Eyes Wide Shut) and Hollywood veteran Gavan O'Herlihy (Willow, Never Say Never Again), Butterfly Man is an adventure filled with passion, humour and intrigue.

Beyond the sun, sea and sand, charismatic characters and fascinating cultural detail, Butterfly Man provides a rare insight into the backpacker experience, East-West relations and ultimately the vulnerability of Thai women from rural communities.

BUTTERFLY MAN will be launched as part of the inaugural Thai Film Festival (www. thaifilmfestival. com) to be held in London 28th Nov- 5th Dec 2002.
