Blue Lagoon, The : Story

Two children, about 7-8 years, are travelling to San Francisco on the ship Northumberland when they are marooned on a deserted island. They live on the island with the ship's cook, Peddy. Peddy teaches them basic survival. One day, Peddy gets drunk and drowns. The two children are left on their own to survive. They soon grow into teenagers, and realize their affection for each other. They have a child, and one day sail of on the escape boat to find their home. As you will find out later in the sequel, the the couple dies, but their child survives. With the great acting of Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins, the movie is a blend of romance and survival. It is well-made and hand-crafted so as to cause families everywhere to shed tears. It is one of the best movies I've seen so far, and could easily win an award. If you like this movie, you should definitely see the next one, made 10 years after. To see a scarier and much more intense marooned/survival movie, watch THE LORD OF THE FLIES.
