Da Vinci Code, The : Movie Review

Slavishly faithful to Dan Brown's mega-selling novel, Ron Howard's ballyhooed adaptation of The Da Vinci Code is a leaden slough through reams of dense exposition from start to finish. The very qualities that made the book a page-turning guilty pleasure are all present and duly accounted for in Akiva Goldsman's script, albeit with little in the way of dramatic tension. Although it's handsomely produced on a grand scale and solidly acted by an international cast, The Da Vinci Code somehow manages to drain nearly all the intrigue right out of Brown's jigsaw puzzle of a religious conspiracy thriller.
