Breaking box-office records The Dark Knight is the most anticipated DVD and Blu-ray launch of the year. The film stars Christian Bale reprising his role as billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne and features a phenomenal performance from Heath Ledger as Batman’s arch nemesis the Joker.

Taking place shortly after the events in Batman Begins, the film explores Gotham City’s ongoing and complex relationship with the caped crusader, and the arrival of the Joker - a master criminal hell bent on causing chaos in Gotham City.

Along with the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) and his faithful butler Alfred (Michael Caine), Batman must use all his power, skill and wealth to combat the anarchy created by the motiveless Joker.

The ensemble cast also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal as Bruce Wayne’s love interest Rachel Dawes, and Morgan Freeman returns as Lucius Fox, his trusted friend and provider of Batman’s equipment.

As well as stunning performances from the cast and the epic vision of director Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, The Prestige), The Dark Knight also features six scenes filmed entirely with the IMAX camera system. When combined with the pin sharp clarity of Blu-ray high definition, Nolan’s adrenaline fuelled action sequences and breathtaking landscapes make for truly spectacular home entertainment.

The Dark Knight launches on Blu Ray and DVD on 8th December. Both the 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray will be available with limited edition foil o-ring packaging.
