Liz Stands Up For Herself As Pickets Jeer Her At Premiere

ELIZABETH HURLEY blasted her aides last night (17OCT00) at the premiere of her new movie BEDAZZLED - blaming them for the controversy surrounding her breaking a SCREEN ACTOR'S GUILD strike.

The actress arrived at the Westwood, Hollywood, premiere alone but joined co-star BRENDAN FRASER and special guest RAQUEL WELCH, while protestors jeered and booed her. Many held placards with messages like, 'Ugly Scab,' and 'You make me Hurl', but the beautiful AUSTIN POWERS star insisted she was oblivious to the anti-commercials strike when she agreed to film a new ad for ESTEE LAUDER.

She said, "It's very sad for me because they are my union and I actually do support the strike and wouldn't have dreamt of working had I known there was a strike. "The fact is I didn't know, you can't rewrite history. I've apologised, but, hey, I live in England, what can I do. I didn't know. My advertising agency was very remiss in not telling me."
