Jonah Hill in talks to join Matt Reeves' The Batman in a mystery role

Jeffrey Wright is being eyed for the role of Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming DC Comics adaptation, with Jonah Hill being eyed to play a villain, though his exact role remains a mystery at this time.

Robert Pattinson is set to star as the Dark Knight. Matt Reeves took over the directing gig after Ben Affleck stepped away from the role. Affleck was also expected to play Batman again but then said he would be hanging up the cape for good. Reeves has since described the film as a "defining" and "very personal" story about the Dark Knight, rather than an origin story in the vein of Frank Miller's beloved "Year One" series.

According to sources, producers had long wanted Hill for the project, but casting decisions were put on hold until the role of Batman was filled. The deal hasn't closed and sources say it could still fall apart, but both sides are engaging on Hill joining. As for who Hill is playing, that's still being worked out as well, but sources say he's being eyed for a villain role.

Hill made his feature directorial debut with last year's A24 movie Mid90s. He was Oscar-nominated for supporting acting roles in Moneyball (2011) and Wolf of Wall Street, The (2013).
