Dick Van Dyke Says He's Calling It Quits

Dick Van Dyke, who groused during an interview with Larry King last month that his 8-year-old Diagnosis Murder series was "being thrown to the wolves" by CBS (it now airs opposite NBC's E.R.), says that he plans to retire at the end of the current season.

As reported today (Thursday) by the New York Post, Van Dyke announced his plans Tuesday at a Washington affair honoring his classic The Dick Van Dyke Show, which ran from 1961 to 1966. "It's time for me to go to pasture," the 74-year-old Van Dyke remarked. "Tastes have changed. Television's going, as far as I'm concerned, downhill -- and I'm an anachronism."
