Oprah Extends Her Deal Through 2004

Oprah Winfrey and King World, now a division of Viacom, have agreed on a two-year extension of her contract through the 2003-2004 season. Since King World's contract with ABC also is due to expire in 2002, the signing immediately touched off speculation that King World will be moving the show from ABC stations to Viacom-owned CBS stations in that year. However a source told today's (Thursday) New York Post, "Both Oprah and Roger King have said publicly that they feel a responsibility to the incumbent stations. ... I wouldn't read anything into the new deal."
