Studios Spend More On Ads In 2000, Survey Says


Spending on movie advertising spiraled upwards in 2000, according to data compiled by New York-based Competitive Media Reporting and reported in today's (Friday) Wall Street Journal. According to the data, the leading ad spenders this year were Gladiator (DreamWorks), with $29.5 million, Chicken Run (DreamWorks), with $27.5 million, and The Perfect Storm (Warner Bros.), with $25.6 million. Each of them exceeded last year's leaders, Man on the Moon, The General's Daughter and Tarzan, ($20 million to $22.5 million).
