Actress ANNE HECHE jumped at the chance to join the cast of ALLY McBEAL - because they required her to swear profusely.

The former lesbian lover of comic ELLEN DEGENERES plays a character with foul-mouthed disorder, Tourette's Syndrome, who runs over her boyfriend with her truck. Heche says, "I read the part and it sounded fantastic. I watched some episodes of the show, and just thought it was such a unique show.

Everybody on it is so great. "I called DAVID E KELLEY (Ally McBeal creator) and said, 'How do you see her? What do you see her as?' and he said, 'Well, I see her as you.' I was like, 'Alright, let's do it.' "I don't usually shout out things that people aren't ready to hear, like she would. And I don't necessarily kick and scream and punch, but there are some real qualities to her, too. She teaches children and she writes children's books.
