McMahon's WWF Lets Go Of Turner's WCW

The World Wrestling Federation has apparently abandoned efforts to buy Ted Turner's World Championship Wrestling, published reports said Tuesday. News about the collapse of negotiations between the two wrestling organizations follows a report two weeks ago that WWF chief Vince McMahon had decided to exercise a condition of a recently settled lawsuit that allowed the WWF to get a first-look and an option to match any offer made to buy the WCW.

At the time, Mandalay Entertainment had reportedly all but completed a deal to buy the Turner wrestling group. Although the New York Times reported on Oct. 23 that the WWF and WCW were "working on the final papers" of a deal, a WWF spokesman said Tuesday that "negotiations have been completed and there are no further discussions planned." It was not clear whether the Mandalay deal would be revived.
