LATEST: JULIA ROBERTS has given up on romancing HUGH GRANT - after realising boyfriend BENJAMIN BRATT really is the man for her.

The PRETTY WOMAN star and actor Bratt have had a turbulent summer, but she's determined to keep their romance alive after a love-in at a Los Angeles hotel put the spark back.

Friends say Roberts had been flirting with the idea of romancing NOTTING HILL co-star Grant after the two met up in Hollywood last month (OCT00), but she's decided Hugh will be best left as a friend.

The actress checked into a $1,200-a-night (£800) hotel last week (04NOV00) to welcome Bratt to Hollywood from New York for the premiere of his new movie RED PLANET. And she splashed out on a range of new lingerie and aphrodisiacs to show her lover she still felt passionately about him.

The couple dined together on caviar and foie gras before returning to their suite, "giggling like schoolchildren." A pal says, "Julia must have felt that Ben believed she had been trying to make him jealous by seeing other men. But she didn't want to risk losing him."
