Superman: Legacy Casts Anthony Carrigan as Unexpected DC Hero.

Anthony Carrigan has been cast as classic DC character Metamorpho, aka archeologist-turned-hero Rex Mason. He joins the feature that will formally launch DC’s new universe under filmmaker Gunn and his DC Studios co-boss Peter Safran.

The superhero film, which Gunn has written and will direct as the first feature for his DC Studios connected universe, will star David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

Carrigan, fresh off an Emmy nomination for playing soft-hearted Chechen gangster NoHo Hank in Barry, will play the elemental shapeshifter in the upcoming Superman: Legacy, which will launch Gunn's new vision of the DC cinematic universe.

DC Studios co-chief Gunn has also spoken about his excitement over the project following the news of the hires. In a posting on Threads, he says:

"Superman: Legacy opens two years from today. It may seem far away to many of you, but it’s close to me! We have a lot to do between now and then. But I haven’t been more excited about a project in forever… and this cast, slowly coming together… holy cow."

Asked about the inclusion of the new heroes, he says: "They fit the story I’m telling. Story always comes first… The primary story most definitely revolves around Superman and Lois". He also confirmed that the actors he is casting for this movie will go on to play the roles in other DCU projects.
