Lucas Helps To Stamp Out AIDS

LATEST: GEORGE LUCAS is helping to stamp out HIV and AIDS in Africa by offering up the first item from the STAR WARS archive for auction.

The movie maker has donated the light saber used by LIAM NEESON in THE PHANTOM MENACE to the Irish actor's UNICEF charity auction, MOVIE ACTION FOR KIDS, which will take place in New York, Los Angeles and London in March (01). Neeson says, "George has never given anything out of the Star Wars archive but he gave us this.

It's going to be a great auction. "
We have MEL GIBSON's sword from BRAVEHEART, JULIA ROBERTS' wedding dress from RUNAWAY BRIDE and boxing gloves from ROCKY and THE HURRICANE." And Neeson knows exactly how the proceeds from the auction will be spent, "There's a drug on the market that costs just $4 (£2.66)." (KL/WNV/CPT)
