U.K. Cable Channel Sponsors Confab on Censorship

The British independent film channel FilmFour and the Institute of Contemporary Arts announced at the Edinburgh Film Festival Wednesday that they will jointly sponsor a conference on film censorship in London on Nov. 10th.

As part of the conference, they said, they will screen a number of films that have been banned in Britain. On its Web site, FilmFour indicated that it intended "to present new evidence to challenge comfortable old assumptions about the efficacy of censorship. The aim of this event will be to affect (sic) change."
