The GLADIATOR star presented the vehicle to his beau the morning after the couple attended the New York reception of CATHERINE ZETA JONES and MICHAEL DOUGLAS (19NOV00).

A source says, "The car was delivered to the Manhattan apartment where they were staying. "When Russell announced it was her present, she was hardly thrilled. In fact, she just looked bewildered. "He didn't seem to mind that fact that his gesture was going down like a lead balloon. They jumped in the car and drove off with himbehind the wheel."
