Disney Pulls Mickey And Minnie Cell Phone Faceplates

Following an ABC News PrimeTime report Thursday suggesting that cell phones may pose special health risks to teenagers, the Walt Disney company (ABC's parent) announced that it had decided to discontinue licensing its characters for use on cell phones.

The program had displayed Mickey and Minnie Mouse faceplates on Nokia phones. In a statement, Disney spokesman John Singh said, "Because the well-being of our customers is our priority, we have decided to discontinue the licensing of our characters for use on cellular telephones until there is reliable scientific evidence establishing the absence of any such link."
