DVD Sales Also Soar Over The Holiday

Fox Home Video reported Monday that sales and rentals of its just released X-Men DVDs and videos totaled $70 million over the Thanksgiving holiday, $12.5 million more than what the movie earned during its opening weekend in theaters last July. "We were projecting revenue of $50 million, but in fact, that was way too low," Fox spokesman Steve Feldstein told today's (Monday) New York Post. Shoppers snatched up 1.25 million copies of X-Men DVDs, priced at $22.95. At the same time, sales of DreamWorks' Gladiator on DVD climbed to 2 million.
