Sexy actress MICHELLE PFEIFFER and hellraising actor SEAN PENN are in negotiations to star in New Line Cinema's SAM I AM for director JESSIE NELSON.

The project is targeted for a mid-January (01) start in Los Angeles. Sam is the story of a disabled man with the mind of a 7-year-old (Penn) who is facing a hearing to regain custody of his young daughter, who has been taken away from him by social services.

When a workaholic attorney (Pfeiffer) agrees to take his seemingly unwinnable case pro bono, she winds up learning a few lessons in parenthood. (PDD/HR)
