Tuvalu To Be Admitted To U.N. - Credits Internet And TV.

The tiny nation (population: 10,600) of Tuvalu, which was assigned the Internet domain suffix .tv, has already earned $18 million from sales of Internet addresses by dotTV Inc., allowing it to finance the process of joining the United Nations, the New York Times reported today (Monday).

On the eve of a flag-raising ceremony for Tuvalu at the U.N. on Tuesday, Koloa Talake, a Tuvalu official, told the Times, "The world's recognition of Tuvalu as an independent country has been made possible by the relationship with dotTV."
