Cheers? Yes. Cheer? No.

With minor variations, the final weekend of the summer season at the box office wound up looking pretty much like the penultimate weekend.

Universal's cheerleader comedy, Bring It On, continued to be the top draw as it took in $3.2 million on Friday and another $4.4 million on Saturday. (Because of the Labor Day holiday, studios did not issue weekend projections that included estimates for Sunday.)

The Cell was in second place with $1.8 million on Friday and $2.5 million on Saturday. Space Cowboys continued to show strong legs, moving back up to third place with $1.4 million on Friday and $2.5 million on Saturday.

The only new film to make the top ten was Highlander IV: Endgame, which took in $1.9 million on Friday and $1.7 million on Saturday, putting it in sixth place.
