FRIENDS actress COURTENEY COX ARQUETTE is trying for a baby - and scriptwriters for the hit television sit com are under orders to re-write if she's successful.

Courteney - who plays MONICA in the show - was already set to steal the next episode as her character and boyfriend CHANDLER BING plan their wedding.

But now there may be more than just wedding bells in the air for Monica - as real life couple Courteney and hubby DAVID ARQUETTE begin trying for a baby.

Just like cast mate LISA KUDROW, Courteney's pregnancy would be written into the script, and producers MARTHA KAUFFAMAN and KEVIN BRIGHT admit his scriptwriters are on stand by incase drastic re-writing becomes necessary.

Kauffman says, "It takes a long time to plan a wedding - especially Monica's. She's been thinking about this for almost 30 years."

Bright adds, "If she gets pregnant, look for that to happen on the TV show. She's not pregnant now, but she's trying to have a baby."
