Reefer Madness At Theaters

After playing nearly a month to packed art houses, the British comedy Saving Grace moved into 875 theaters over the weekend, grossing an estimated $2.9 million.

Reuters quoted Fine Line distribution chief Steven Friedlander as saying that the film, which is being hailed by groups advocating the legalization of marijuana, was playing "surprisingly strongly" in conservative strongholds like Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Omaha.

The film has earned $6.7 million in the U.S., about what it cost to produce. Fine Line reportedly paid nearly $4 million for it.
