A young Irish actor is in the frame to play murdered BEATLE JOHN LENNON in a new biopic.

Dubliner PHILIP MCQUILLAN was among a host of Lennon lookalikes who auditioned for movie bosses in the city.

He will now jet to London tomorrow (07SEPT00) for a final screen test.

Philip says, "Damn right I'm excited. It would be the part of a lifetime for me."

Movie bosses moved to Ireland in desperation after unsuccessfully scouring Britain for a Lennon lookalike.
