Film Production Soars In UK

British film production soared by more than 30 percent in 2000 to a record $770 million as many U.S. film companies poured into U.K. studios, attracted by a more favorable exchange rate, tax incentives, upgraded studio facilities and seasoned technicians.

In a statement, British Film Commissioner Steve Norris said: "We are delighted to see such a vast increase in revenue for the British film community in the UK and proud to see such a strong indication of the growing international awareness of British film-making talent found here."
