WILLEM DAFOE was so convincing in his latest role as a blood- sucking vampire that film crew members refused to eat with him.

The American actor's startling performance as a member of the undead in E ELIAS MERHIGE's satire SHADOW OF A VAMPIRE is winning widespread praise - from everyone except his work mates, who found his appearance extremely disturbing.

Dafoe explains, "So good was the disguise that initially I had to eat alone. The crew were simply not comfortable about eating lunch with me."
