NICOLE KIDMAN and TOM CRUISE's divorce is getting messy - according to close pals of the couple.

American showbiz magazine PEOPLE reports in its forthcoming edition, which hits news stands on Friday (16FEB01), the boxing gloves are off and the negotiations are getting messy. People executive CAROL WALLACE says, "We've had close friends of Nicole who have told us this divorce is going to be ugly and messy. And they also say the couple didn't have a pre-nuptial agreement. "The couple have been sharing the children and are apparently trying to stay polite and calm in front of the kids."

Last weekend (10/11FEB01) the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE actor took his kids to Santa Monica airport in California, where they spent the day together. But their future jet-setting life styles may have to be curbed because, under Californian law, neither one of them can take the children out of state without written permission or a court order.
