DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS star JEREMY IRONS is risking his life in a yacht race.

Irons sets off today (18FEB01) as part of the 17-man crew of the LG FLATRON from New Zealand to Sydney, facing enormous waves and high winds. He says, "I've been asked to take part in the fourth leg of a round-the-world yacht race. "It's going to be an extraordinary experience and, I think, a lot of fun. I'm both terrified and very excited. "I've been sailing since I was five and own a boat. But I've never sailed on a machine like this, with a crew of this size before or in weather this violent. It's going to be a steep learning curve for me."

But there will be no special treatment for the Hollywood star, "The sea is a dangerous place and we have a captain who wants to win, so I don't think we'll be sitting on our bottoms." (KAB/WNSEX/PDD)
