Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin is close to signing a deal to star in his first motion picture, The Assassination, in which he will play a Dominican revolutionary seeking to overthrow strongman Rafael Trujillo in 1961.

The film reportedly will be helmed by horror film director George Romero (Night of the Living Dead) with a cast that includes Ed Harris, Anthony Quinn (as Trujillo), and James Coburn. It is being produced by Highland Pictures, which said Tuesday that it hopes to start production in Puerto Rico in April.
