Costner Scraps Plans For Princess Di Bodyguard Sequel

KEVIN COSTNER has scrapped plans to make a sequel to THE BODYGUARD based on an attempt to assassinate tragic British former royal DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES.

The WATERWORLD star originally wanted the Princess to appear in the action movie as a royal targeted by terrorists. But despite re- writing the script after her tragic death on 31 August 1997, he decided to scrap the entire project. The Hollywood star says, "We were never going to sensationalise her life or make her look foolish. We wanted her to look good."

Costner stars in the new real-life thriller 13 DAYS, which is released in Britain in March (01). He plays WHITE HOUSE political advisor KENNY O'DONNELL in the tale of the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. (BR/WNWCAN/MCM)
