No Jail For Downey Jnr?

LATEST: Californian state officials say it is unlikely that ROBERT DOWNEY JnR will serve time in prison after his arrest on Tuesday (24APR01).

RUSS HEIMERICH, a spokesman for the California Department of Corrections in Sacramento believes the ALLY McBEAL star will serve time in drug rehabilitation instead. He says, "Just because somebody has violated their parole doesn't mean they go back to prison."

The 36-year-old actor was found under the influence of a "controlled substance" in a Los Angeles suburb, the day before a soundtrack signing with VONDA SHEPHERD.

Troubled Downey was previously arrested and charged with drug possession back in November (00). Earlier in August (00) he was released after serving one year of a three-year jail term for violating probation by missing drug tests. (ES/WNWCNT/KMW)
