Oscar Winners Tipped To Play Tracy And Hepburn

OSCAR-winners RUSSELL CROWE and JULIA ROBERTS are being tipped to take the lead roles in a biopic about Hollywood stars KATHaRINE HEPBURN and SPENCER TRACY.

The legendary screen couple, who began a torrid affair in the early 1940s, managed to keep it a secret from the world until after Tracy's death in 1968.

The idea of a biopic has long been considered, but Hepburn herself has always refused to co-operate with any film that she felt would portray Tracy, who once famously demolished a bar during a drinking session with ERNEST HEMINGWAY, as a violent drunkard.

But Hepburn, now 94, is reported to be seriously ill, and studios are thought to be gearing up to begin production after her death.

According to Hollywood reports, Crowe and Roberts, who carried off BEST ACTOR and BEST ACTRESS awards at last month's (MAR01) Oscars, fit the physical descriptions of the lovers and are hot favourites for the role.

One Hollywood movie-maker says, "Like Hepburn and Tracy, both of them have a slightly old-Hollywood, mythic air about them." (LE/WNWCP/KW)
