Actor ROBERT REDFORD has been honoured on two counts - for his movie career and his political stances.

The FREEDOM FORUM FIRST AMENDMENT CENTER at VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY and the NASHVILLE INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL in Tennessee presented Redford with the 2001 FREEDOM IN FILM award on Saturday (02JUN01).

The award recognizes not only Sting, The (1973) star Redford's film career, but also his role as founder of the SUNDANCE INSTITUTE AND FILM FESTIVAL for independent filmmakers and his involvement in social and political issues. (MCM/WNWCFU)
