Actors ALAN CUMMING and JENNIFER JASON LEIGH are so close they managed to write, direct and star in a film together - and argued just once.

The Scottish hunk and the American beauty made ANNIVERSARY PARTY, The (2001) together, but only exchanged cross words once, about the proper placement of a cushion. Cumming says, "I always say that together we make the perfect whole. Separately, of course, we're both very dysfunctional. "

The two actors met three years ago when they co-starred in the Broadway revival of CABARET. They became friends and began brainstorming a collaboration a few months after their Cabaret run ended, when Cumming would stay with Leigh while visiting Los Angeles.

In the film, Leigh and Cumming play a showbiz couple celebrating six years of a rocky marriage with a houseful of neurotic Hollywood guests, played by a bunch of the actors' real-life friends and former co-stars, including GWYNETH PALTROW and PARKER POSEY.

Leigh and Cumming, who is writing a novel, say they are already dreaming up their next project together. Leigh adds, "We'll go off and independently do our own thing, then come together and do another film - the whole write, direct, co-star thing. " (MCM/WNWCPS)
