Trainspotting Team To Make New British Blockbuster


The film-making team behind the hit movie TRAINSPOTTING (1996) are to team up with the author of cult novel BEACH, the (2000) for the second time.

DANNY BOYLE and ANDREW MACDONALD will direct and produce 28 DAYS LATER written by author ALEX GARLAND.

The pair turned Garland's novel The Beach into a big-budget movie starring LEONARDO DICAPRIO and British actor ROBERT CARLYLE.

The new film tells the story of the survivors of a deadly virus which sweeps the earth and was written as an original script by Garland.

The picture is being part financed by Hollywood studio FOX SEARCHLIGHT. Boyle says, "We are pleased to have found a home for 28 Days Later with Fox Searchlight because of the company's commitment to and respect for the filmmaker's voice."

Actors have yet to be chosen for the film, which will start shooting outside London in August (01). (LE/WNWCAN/RP)
