Ridley Scott To Take On Alexander The Great?


GLADIATOR (2000) director RIDLEY SCOTT is gearing up to make a film about ALEXANDER THE GREAT.

Scott is reportedly eager to sign up for the project, adding to speculation that RUSSELL CROWE will take the leading role and thus reunite Gladiator's director and star.

UNIVERSAL is believed to be interested in backing the potential blockbusting epic. Meanwhile, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER says screenwriter TED TALLY, who won an ACADEMY AWARD for his screenplay for SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, the (1991), has agreed to adapt a trilogy of novels about the great warrior and emperor for producer DINO DE LAURENTIIS, who worked with Scott on Hannibal.

De Laurentiis reportedly says, "We're hoping that this will be one of the most important epics ever made. " Scott will make a final decision after reading a completed screenplay near the end of July (01). (KW/WNWUN/RP)
