Scary Movie Makers Surprised At Film's British Rating

The makers of SCARY MOVIE 2 (2001) are surprised that the teen flick has received an 18 rating in Britain. It had an R classification in America, which means anyone under 17 has to be accompanied by an adult. But in Britain no-one under 18 will be allowed to see it.

SHAWN WAYANS, who plays RAY in the film and also co-wrote it, says, "I thought the US rating was bad! I think people will see it. People will probably end up buying tickets to see CATS AND DOGS (2001) and sneak in to see it. "

MARLON WAYANS, who plays SHORTY in the film, says he thinks the film will appeal to international audiences. "I think the film will be accepted a lot better overseas. The US is getting very conservative," he says. "We saw it shown in Paris and they lost their minds. It feels good to have it shown abroad. "

Marlon says this kind of film is one of the hardest to write. "A parody and a thriller are the two hardest movies to write. You have to sit down and do loads of research, there's so much involved. We watched about 100 movies to write this one," he says. (RP/WNWCAN/IG)
