Film director STEVEN SPIELBERG was injured after falling off his scooter this week (ends 9th December 2001). The 54-year-old is on crutches after the accident, which happened near his home in the smart Hamptons area of New York state. The SAVING PRIVATE RYAN (1998) director twisted his knee but escaped with no bones broken.

His spokesman Martin Levy says, "He's fine. He goes to therapy and he's got a brace on his knee down to his ankle, and when he's moving from one place to another he's on crutches." (KMW/WNSMI/NFA)
