Tom Hanks is being hailed a hero after saving a drowning man.
The movie star was jogging near his home in Malibu, California,
when he heard the screams of a man caught in a rip current.

Hanks urged the troubled swimmer to calm down and float until he felt the current weakening, and then swim diagonally back to shore.
The actor then dashed to drag the exhausted swimmer to safety once he was out of trouble, according to American tabloid National Enquirer.
