Screen funnyman ROBIN WILLIAMS is set to play LIBERACE in a new film about the flamboyant singer's life.

The American actor will also produce the movie titled simply LIBERACE which is to be directed by PHILIP KAUFMAN.

Born WLADZIU VALENTINO LIBERACE, the entertainer was a child prodigy who was a concert soloist at the age of 11 and performed with symphony orchestras in his teens.

Liberace became a star in the 1950s with his records as well as television and film appearances. He made headlines in 1959, when he successfully sued Britain's DAILY MIRROR for implying he was gay.
