Nicole Kidman has become a heroine

Nicole Kidman has become a heroine to locals in the Romanian village where she is filming her latest project, Cold Mountain (2003). The people of Poligrafu say Kidman has brought fame and fortune to their little village and want to make her an honorary citizen. 'The film and its stars are like a gift from God to us,' said mayor Georgie Voicu.
Many locals have played extras and others have been given TVs for renting their land as battle scenes. Farmers are also receiving £100 for each animal that they have to keep locked up during filming. The mayor said that the villagers found the idea of Hollywood 'baffling' while Kidman said it was 'frightening' to be in a country she knows 'absolutely nothing about'. Better not tell her that Poligrafu is in Transylvania then.
