New Look FilmFour To Focus On British Talent

Channel 4 today announced a proposal for its film production business - FilmFour channels unaffected by change.

Channel 4 today announced an outline proposal that would see the restructuring of its filmmaking subsidiary FilmFour Ltd. with film production integrated back into Channel 4. The restructuring of the company will see a continued investment in feature films but with a renewed focus on British talent and cutting-edge British films.

This restructuring of Channel 4's investment in films, moves it away from larger-budget international projects and towards the production of the type of British films that have been an integral part of Channel 4's success over the last 20 years. The new Channel 4 film division will work with both new and established British talent to produce innovative and creative films and will also continue to champion first time film makers through the continued support of the ground-breaking work championed by the FilmFour Lab.

The restructuring plans for the new look film division will take place over a period of time and will not affect existing productions such as Motor Cycle Diaries and Edgardo Mortara and existing distribution plans for titles such as Buffalo Soldiers and Once Upon a Time in the Midlands but will see the closure of FilmFour's distribution and international sales arms.

The restructure of Channel 4's film production division will not affect the four FilmFour channels which will continue to showcase these new films first on TV and bring you the best in modern independent cinema from America, the UK and around the world.
