The third installment of American Pie has been given a UK release date.

American Wedding will open at cinemas this August, and sees several of the orginal cast returning.

It is based around Jim, played by Jason Biggs, getting married to Alyson Hannigan's character Michelle.

Seann William Scott, who played Stifler in the first two movies, originally swore he wouldn't get involved for a third time, but says he changed his mind when he saw the script:

He told Radio 1: "I didn't even want to read it because I was just like 'No, we got lucky on the first two - I don't even want to be thinking about it right now.'

"And then I thought 'I don't want to have any regrets - let me just read it.' And I was just blown away because I thought it was the funniest script that I have ever read.

"Some of the actors aren't in it, but it still works. It's really about Jason Biggs asking Alyson Hannigan's character to marry him.

"And then you've got my character, who is just a complete nightmare. It really is a complete funny movie."
