Hollywood star for Sir Anthony

Sir Anthony Hopkins has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Celebrity guests at the ceremony outside the home of the Oscars included the actor's Silence of the Lambs co-star Jodie Foster.

Hopkins, currently starring in the film adaptation of Philip Roth's novel Human Stain, told the crowds that as a young actor in England he'd aspired to become a Hollywood star.

He described the Walk of Fame ceremony as the culmination of those hopes, saying: "This is synonymous with the dreamland of the movie business, and that's where I always wanted to come."

Hopkins, 65, won an Oscar for his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs and also played the killer in the thrillers Hannibal and Red Dragon.

His latest film, Human Stain, is about a disgraced academic's fling with a caretaker played by Nicole Kidman.
