Annie Lennox is to sing the theme song for the third and and final Lord of the Rings movie.

Her track Into The West will feature on a CD of the soundtrack, which also includes highlights from Howard Shore's score, and is released on November 25.

Lennox said: "It has been a fascinating experience to be a very small part of this vast jigsaw puzzle entitled The Lord of the Rings.

"The dedication and commitment to the project is awesome in every way."

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, will arrive in UK cinemas on December 17.

The first two films, The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers, will be re-released in cinemas in the weeks leading up to Return Of The King's appearance.
