Partridge Family heading for the big screen

The Partridge Family - the 1970s TV show that turned David Cassidy into a star - is to be made into a movie.

Paramount Pictures has bought feature film rights to ABC series that featured an all-singing family who toured the country in their psychedelic bus.

It comes just weeks after it was revealed that the Partridge Family is making a television comeback with Cassidy taking a role.

Billy Gerber, who will produce the big screen version, told Hollywood Reporter: "Like the original series, it's a contemporary family comedy.

"
We aren't looking to make it some campy remake but a mainstream family movie in the vein of School of Rock."
