Studio boss defends Kidman film

Studio bosses of Nicole Kidman's latest film are defending the inclusion of a scene where she gets into a bath with a 10-year-old boy.

In the film Birth, the 10-year-old, played by Cameron Bright, is supposed to be the reincarnation of Kidman's character's dead husband.

IMDB says news of the bath scene has caused outrage in America.

But New Line Cinema boss Mark Ordesky says the two do not make physical contact.

"The scene was shot over Nicole's shoulder," he said.

"Cameron is playing a grown man trapped in the body of a 10-year-old. When you see the performances in the context of the plot, it makes perfect sense.

"
It is meant to be a provocative film, but not in a horrible or salacious way."

Bright, who plays the evil cloned boy in Godsend, out this week, says he is used to sinister roles.

He said: "
In one movie I did, I had an abusive father, and in another I had a father who was a pedophile. I've had a lot of really dark roles."
