The Rock has signed up to star in a movie version of the video game Doom.

Lord Of The Rings star Karl Urban, who played Eomer, is also set to appear in the sci-fi horror flick.

Urban will play the good guy, John Grimm, leader of a special ops team which goes to investigate and neutralise a demonic invasion of a Mars space station, Empireonline.co.uk reports.

The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson, says he'll be playing "the ultimate bad guy" in the film.

Andrzej Bartkowiak will direct, with shooting set to start in mid-October.
